BES Back to School Information 2026

Hello Bushnell Families,
We are so excited to see you Tuesday, August 11th for the first day of school! To make this day run as smoothly as possible, it is incredibly important that you review the information within this post so you can plan accordingly.
For the first 3 days of school only, parents will be allowed to walk their child to the cafeteria for a free breakfast OR walk them to class, beginning promptly at 7:15 am. If you would like the opportunity to walk with your child, please park on the old football field in the front of the school. Once parked, you and your child/children will need to stop at one of the tables near the front office to receive a wristband. This wristband will indicate how your child is going home and should be worn the remainder of the week. Please note that even if the line is long, it is still necessary for us to verify afternoon transportation and for your child to get a wristband to gain access on campus. All 3 carline loops will be available to use as well. Please see below for those procedures.
Pick-up/Drop-off Loop Procedures
Students can begin to be dropped-off using one of our 3 grade-specific pick-up/drop-off carline loops at our school starting at 7:15 am.
· Pre-K students and siblings are to enter off of Main St to West Flannery left on N Broad St into the pickup line- please pull over in the grass to buckle car seats, as to not stop the movement of the pick-up line.
· Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade are to use the Cafeteria Loop from West Seminole Ave/ 476 you will turn on to S. York St, then turn right to the cafeteria loop. You will only turn left when exiting this loop.
· 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade students are to be dropped off/picked up in the Front Office Loop. You will start on Main Street, turn on West McCollum Ave, turn left on N. York Street to the office pick up loop. You will only turn right when exiting this loop.
· For families with multiple students who attend our school, the pick-up/drop-off loop location will be determined by the grade that the youngest child is in. For example, if you have a child in pre-k and a child in 5th grade, both children will be picked up and dropped off using the pre-k loop. There is absolutely no passing of cars in any or our loops. Please make sure car tags are hung on your mirror prior to entering the school zone and leave it up until your child enters the car. Dismissal will begin when a majority of students are present at their designated loop, approximately at 2:25 pm.
Bus Information
All families who are planning to use the bus for their child/children should have completed the online request when completing their Skyward forms. If your child has been successfully routed, an email should have been received providing you your child's bus information (stop location, bus number, pick-up/drop-off time).
Buses will only take students to their home address that is listed in Skyward or a licensed daycare. If you have a child who needs transportation to and/or from the Bushnell Youth Center, please contact the Bushnell Youth Center directly to setup bussing. Please note, routing isn't done instantaneously and may take up to 72 hours to be completed.
Walkers
Students living less than two (2) miles from their home schools may choose to walk to school. Students who walk to school will use the gates on Central Avenue to enter and exit the school. This gate is manned by a staff member each morning from 7:15-7:40 AM and each afternoon from 2:25-2:40 PM.
The school day school day runs from 7:40 am to 2:25 pm, with the tardy bell at 7:45 am. Free breakfast and lunch is available for all students.
We look forward to having a great first day and a wonderful school year!
